Dale Cheney - Duties & Responsibilities as a Fitness Trainer

Dale Cheney lead, instruct, and motivate individuals or groups in exercise activities, including cardiovascular exercise exercises, for the heart and blood system, strength training, and stretching. Dale Cheney works with people of all ages and skill levels.



Scope as a personal trainer:

1 Knowledge of human anatomy and the concepts of functional exercise, basic nutrition, and basic exercise science
2 An ability to design individual and group exercise programs tailored to the needs and attainable goals of specific clients
3 An ability to conduct and understand the need and importance of screening and client assessment, initially and progressively
4 An ability to execute individual fitness program design in a safe and effective way
A desire to help clients reach their health and fitness goals through appropriate cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance exercise
An ability to motivate others to improve their overall fitness and health
A dedication to maintaining personal integrity and your own health and fitness

Education and certifications: Don’t stop at one or another certification, but more importantly don’t think that it doesn’t matter. Your trainer knowledge is made legit through certification, especially if you don’t have a fitness related college degree. We encourage multiple certs because multiple certs show that you are driven to go over and beyond. Certification is the baseline of baselines to your long term career. Personal trainer certifications, specialty certifications, and CPR/AED are the places to start.Those with an NFPT Certified Personal Trainer (NFPT-CPT) credential are certified to design and implement fitness training.

Responsibilities of Fitness Personal Trainer: A personal fitness trainer has many responsibilities when working with individuals. Some of these responsibilities include the following:

Assess the needs and capabilities of individuals through fitness assessment procedures.
Advise individuals on the correct method and use of exercise machines and devices including weights.
Develop individual exercise programs for individuals based on age and fitness levels.
Provide instruction in a variety of fitness activities including non-gym related activities.
Motivate clients to work to his/her maximum and a safe potential for the entire workout.
Assure all exercises are done with proper form and technique maximizing results.
Help clients develop realistic, attainable goals and continually modifying training objectives.
